GLPI is the Information Resource-Manager with an additional Administration- Interface. You can use it to build up a database with an inventory for your company (computer, software, printers…). It has enhanced functions to make the daily life for the administrators easier, like a job-tracking-system with mail-notification and methods to build a database with basic information about your network-topology.GLPI is the Information Resource-Manager with an additional Administration- Interface. The principal functionalities of the application are :
1) the precise inventory of all the technical resources. All their characteristics will be stored in a database.
2) management and the history of the maintenance actions and the bound procedures. This application is dynamic and is directly connected to the users who can post requests to the technicians. An interface thus authorizes the latter with if required preventing the service of maintenance and indexing a problem encountered with one of the technical resources to which they have access.

High performance: about 1 000 000 of computers inventoried per day using a server bi-Xeon 3 GHz and 4 GB RAM. 3-Tier architecture using current standards, HTTP/HTTPS protocol and XML data formatting. Based on well known products such as Apache web server, MySQL database server, PHP and PERL scripting languages. Web service accessible through SOAP interface. Plugins support through API.

The goal of this website is to give an end to end open source solution for a typical small company including Telephony, Document management, Customer Relation Application, Networking, Remote access, Desktop solutions and so on.
Although only the tools/applications have been listed on the website for the moment, a complete network diagram and individual how-to articles will follow.
Please note that for most of the installation instructions, we will not re-invent the wheel. A large number of very competent experts have already written how-to articles, we will just refer you to those. We will only document the missing links between the different components or if we feel that some installations could be better documented.
